Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

This Position reports directly to the Account Director. The Director of Operations is responsible for the delivery of high quality operations support of facilities systems and material handling equipment at various Amazon fulfilment centers and delivery stations across North America.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Deliver a safe, cost effective and high availability operations and maintenance program in a fast paced 7X24 logistics environment across geographically dispersed Amazon distribution network.
  • Ensure the reliability and availability of various building facility systems including but not limited to HVAC, Fire & Life Safety, Electrical, Plumbing etc.
  • Ensure the availability and reliability of mechanical equipment including but not limited to conveyors, robots and other material handling equipment.
  • Ensure the implementation of and adherence to a rigorous schedule and usage based preventive maintenance program and various predictive maintenance programs based on sensor data collection and analysis to delivery smooth operations in a 7X24 high volume environment.
  • Ensure the overall program meets the customer agreed upon Key Performance Indicators across Safety, People, Quality, Output and Cost.
  • Ensure compliance of various programs and activities with applicable OSHA, state, local, and Company safety laws, regulations, policies, and procedures on site and at any remote job site working closely with the safety leaders.
  • Provide operational oversight of the overall operations organization of 500+ employees across 40+ locations spread across the Eastern half of United States.
  • Maintain strong employees and customer engagement across the sites via on-site presence and virtual communication channels.
  • As a member of the senior leadership team will be called upon to participate in various additional operational and strategy discussions related to business expansion, people management, financial planning and customer engagement and presentations.
  • Assists in establishing priorities and long term planning in order to establish goals which support the Company's strategy and vision; directs and modifies, as required, the work methods and processes to meet these goals.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 4 year college degree, preferably in a technical field or 2 years of Amazon experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience at a senior level in an operations role in a service industry.
  • Proven track record of leading a geographically dispersed multi facility 7X24 operations in a high volume environment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and project management skills.
  • Proven track record of analyzing short term and long term trends based on various types of organizational and operational data and course correct as necessary.
  • Ability to adapt in fast paced, growing and changing environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • A B.S. in an engineering discipline from an accredited university or non-engineering B.S. with 2 years of Amazon experience.
  • Direct experience working in some leadership capacity in a fulfilment center.
  • 4+ years of relevant hands on experience in facility systems (mechanical, electrical etc.) equipment support and operations.
  • 5+ years' experience in mentoring, guiding and directing employees in a similar job group.
  • Well versed in OSHA procedures
