Job Description

The Reliability Engineer will implement (and the Sr Reliability Engineering will develop) key work processes and process improvement tools at multiple Dart facilities through cross-functional collaboration.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Lead and work on projects with manufacturing facilities to drive industry best practices in the areas of reliability, production, cost, yield, quality, availability, utilization, and procedures/training
  • Provide feedback to assess the state of readiness of a site with respect to Reliability working with the plant manager and plant leadership teams. Assist in the development of plans to improve both knowledge/skills as well as talent where needed
  • Provide on-site support; align work processes to match facility needs; establish long-term measures and tracking
  • Use internal and external performance benchmarking to drive step changes in performance improvement
  • Share and leverage reliability best practices with other regions and across the Dart organization
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a life cycle asset management process for components, equipment, and processes at all facilities
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, identify, evaluate, propose, implement, and document maintenance plans and performance metrics:
    • failure analysis, and corrective action procedures
    • equipment capacities and risks; and
    • other engineering solutions
  • Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and autonomous maintenance plans
  • Investigate root-cause for repetitive damage and failure rates, and calculate costs that do not meet or follow the maintenance plans
  • Evaluate, recommend, and acquire tools for use, including process analysis software, and other physical tools and resources specific to reliability and maintenance improvement
  • Collaborate with production personnel and other departments to gather information and draft reports, and improve equipment, processes, and products
  • May lead and direct the work of others

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal Reliability Engineer candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field of study and three (3) years of related engineering experience, OR
    • Associate's degree and seven (7) years of related engineering experience
    • High school diploma and ten (10) years of related engineering experience
  • Experience applying Preventative Maintenance programs (PM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various products

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products

  • Up to 80% domestic and international travel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and passport
  • Requires a valid driver's license and favorable motor vehicle report upon hire

The ideal Senior Reliability Engineer candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field of study and six (6) years of related engineering experience, OR
    • Associate's degree and twelve (12) years of related engineering experience
    • High school diploma and fifteen(15) years of related engineering experience
  • Experience in maintenance leadership positions or background in reliability fundamentals and maintenance workflow processes
  • Experience developing and implementing Preventative Maintenance (PM) and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs
  • Experience applying Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills
  • Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Advanced knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products

Both levels require:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to communicate change, persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain technical or difficult issues
  • Ability to establish project plans, regularly monitor and track progress on work projects, and communicate with project partners.
  • Able to lead cross-functional groups and to drive improvements through influence rather than authority
  • Experience with change management and effectively present to an audience or one-on-one of all levels within the organization
  • Ability to be an active listener, to take time to understand points being made, and to ask questions as appropriate
  • Experience working with plastics extrusion, thermoforming, injection molding, paper printing and/or paper converting processes
  • Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various products
  • Work is split between an office environment, production facility, and/or warehouse depending on the project
  • Ability to travel up to 80% of the time domestically and internationally
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and passport
  • Valid driver's license and favorable motor vehicle report upon hire

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Maintenance Reliability Professional Certification (CMRP)
  • Certifications in Predictive Maintenance Technologies
  • Experience using Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Bachelor's degree
