About the Job:

We are looking for Software Development Interns to join our Software Division. Our Software Division creates innovative technical solutions to meet customers' compliance and risk management needs. DCI's software portfolio includes web and desktop applications used by DCI team members and external customers.

You are an ideal Software Development Intern if you are excited about supporting DEI initiatives and designing, developing, and maintaining web and desktop applications.

Our small software development team wants to support students who are motivated, want to grow professionally, and have strong attention to detail.


Responsibilities:

Work involves the designing, developing, and maintaining software applications. Assignments, including developing new applications and making updates to existing applications, will be coordinated through a team lead. Work may require direct communication with customers (e.g., internal consultants) for gathering software requirements, providing technical guidance, and facilitating troubleshooting.

Work involves collaborating with team leadership to assess user needs and gathering customer requirements, and promptly informing team leadership of issues or problems that may impact project work. Projects will include practicing industry-standard coding conventions and performing testing during the development of applications.

Required School Enrollment:

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or related field with a minimum of 1 year until graduation; OR
  • Enrolled in a postgraduate degree program in computer science or related field with 1 year until graduation.


Required General Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, technical research skills (e.g., find, read, summarize, and explain detailed technical documentation) and technical writing skills (e.g., end-user documentation).)
  • Ability to meet pre-determined project and task deadlines.
  • Ability to research technical problems and suggest improvements.
  • Follows instructions for proper implementation.


Preferred Skills:

  • Full-stack web development
  • Windows Forms application development
  • User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design
  • Data visualization
  • C# and ASP.NET
  • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and jQuery
  • React, Angular and Bootstrap
  • PHP, MySQL and Yii
  • Microsoft Visual Studio and/or Visual Studio Code
  • Microsoft Azure database and app services
  • Agile, Scrum, and Kanban
  • OWASP and Microsoft SDL
  • Familiarity with common MS Office applications and file formats
