You will join our Southeast Advanced Manufacturing Civil, Structural and Architectural department

As our new Structural project engineer, you will be part of a highly skilled and experienced team of building design professionals who execute interesting and diverse projects in the municipal, industrial, institutional, and commercial sectors. Our team is at the forefront of helping clients achieve their built environment goals emphasizing sustainability concepts. You will have opportunities to collaborate with design and construction professionals in all the Ramboll business units and organizations in the Americas and globally including Environment & Health, Water, and Advanced Manufacturing.

The Project Engineer will perform moderate to complex assignments that require the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related design engineering tasks. Assignments may involve difficult problems requiring proficient job knowledge to resolve. Engineers at this level must be capable of collaborating and making evaluations and interpretations, exercising independent judgment in selecting and applying engineering standards

Your core responsibilities will be:

  • Plan and design portions of projects of greater complexity, following design, construction, appropriate engineering and building codes, and government standards using design software and drawing tools.
  • Analyzes and interprets survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photographs, analytical data, geologic data and other data to plan and design projects relative to the engineering discipline.
  • Prepares and at times presents reports or analysis such as design calculations, field data results/conclusions and/or cost estimates. Presentation audiences may include other design team members, the project manager, the project owner or the external client.
  • Proficient with drawing production tools such as AutoCAD, REVIT.
  • Proficient with engineering analysis software (Finite Element Analysis software such as STAAD, RISA).
  • May communicate directly with external stakeholders (e.g., vendors, subcontractors, contractors, regulators, etc.).
  • Communicates directly with other team members to progress work products.
  • Supports preparation of proposals, fee estimates, purchase orders and subcontract agreements.
  • Delegates basic tasks to other team members.
  • Participates in the quality review process of work products developed by others and takes ownership of providing quality work to the lead engineer or project manager.
  • Trains and mentors early career employees.
  • Coordinate work on multiple projects to maintain project objectives.
  • Advanced understanding of engineering fundamentals and proficiency utilizing relevant computer software packages and engineering and design equipment specific to the engineering discipline of expertise.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Work effectively in teams comprised of professionals with diverse skill sets, including engineers from other disciplines, scientists and subcontracted professionals.
  • Desire to promote Ramboll’s growth through a commitment to delivering high-quality work products to our clients.
  • Occasional field activities may be required.
  • Troubleshooting and proactive problem solving for field assignments in accordance with project control documents and field guidance documents (FGDs).

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology and 5+ years of qualifying engineering experience in the engineering/design field.
  • Associate’s degree in science, math, computing, technical drafting or other relevant technical curriculum, and 7+ years of qualifying engineering experience working in the engineering/design field.
  • Professional licensure (PE)
