Responsible for providing consulting services in the Civil and Structural Practice group. Typical projects include planning, directing, coordinating and managing and performing engineering consultation on projects of a large scale for clients regarding litigation, analysis, and support services. Engineer will be responsible to ensure that goals/objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters by performing the following duties personally or with the assistance of Staff Consultants or Staff Engineers. Projects may originate in the local area or maybe in support of clients through tout the United States. Engineer may be the project leader or may play a support role for an ESI project leader in any of the ESI offices. Engineer will be additionally responsible to assist in developing a client base for ESI in the Charlotte, North Carolina region.
Key Responsibilities:
* Engineering analysis of geotechnical nature including foundations, retaining walls, and earth embankments
* Engineering analysis of civil related matters including storm water management, waste water treatment, roadways and soil erosion.
* Engineering analysis of and structures from residential to high-rise constructed of wood, concrete, or steel including the inspection of buildings and properties to assess causes and extent of damages and determine cause of failure or collapse.
* Investigate construction accidents and losses. Safety analysis of construction and industrial sites including assessing planned construction, scaffolding, and support practices for safety and adequacy for intended purposes
* Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine adherence to design specifications and accepted standards.
* Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects or to assess the planning of projects by others.
* Inspect and photograph sites to determine relevant information related to the project.
* Apply codes, standards and specifications and judge site conformance to accepted standards.
* Investigate and analyze findings related to best practices and standards used in the construction of sites or buildings.
