GENERAL FUNCTION

This position is a key partner for Credit Solutions leadership in the development, delivery, oversight, and governance of strategic initiatives, action plans, and the remediation of key credit issues related to the delivery of credit within the 1LOD. Implements and manages key initiatives, operating rhythms and reporting utilized in the 1LOD, 2LOD, 3LOD, committee meetings, and Bancorp leadership. Works closely with the Credit Solutions teams, 2LOD, and 3LOD to deliver updates and ensure strategies and action plans are being implemented in a timely and efficient manner.

The role is responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains an inventory of risk issues related to the credit delivery in the Commercial Bank, as well as potential emerging risks.
  • Govern, monitor, and ensure remediation of regulatory, audit, and self-identified matters and issues are completed and remediated in a timely manner.
  • Develops and provides oversight of recommendations / action plans to eliminate or mitigate observed risks, as required.
  • Work closely with Credit Delivery leadership to continually streamline/enhance governance processes and tools to support oversight and drive consistency of credit delivery.
  • Provides operational support to Credit Solutions Directors on strategy development and execution of various initiatives.
  • Provide input and information, as needed, in group and individual settings to develop strategic initiatives and/or action plans.
  • Develop and enhance relationships with 1LOD Sales, Commercial Administration, Credit Risk, Risk Strategies & Reporting, Enterprise Risk, Compliance, and Audit to ensure alignment of issue identification, resolution, and execution.
  • Creates presentation materials containing complex and challenging credit delivery issues for use in the 1LOD and 2LOD that clearly articulates the issue(s), root cause, potential course(s) of action, and conclusions.
  • Actively promote a solution and results-oriented environment.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the appropriate laws, regulations, and Fifth Third Bancorp policy and procedures.
  • Leverages regulatory knowledge to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and requirements.
  • Maintains awareness of any LOB changes in the areas of product risk management and compliance that would result in a necessary change in policy or impact to the business line.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None. Individual contributor role.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, economics, related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of related business experience required preferably in the financial services industry. Specialist knowledge of commercial and corporate banking, including credit underwriting and portfolio management.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to synthesize data into insights and conclusions.
  • Proven success as a trusted partner who is action oriented and builds solutions that are repeatable and sustainable.
  • Strong relationship management with a focus on initiative execution/implementation.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and maintain effectiveness in varying situations with diverse roles, responsibilities, work environments, and people.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively at all levels within the organization.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products required.
  • Previous experience working with OCC regulated bank.
