Position Summary

EBI Consulting is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer who possesses a complete understanding of the technical aspects of private civil engineering projects including site layout, grading, stormwater management, and utility design. In addition, the candidate shall possess an understanding of municipal zoning, land use ordinances and applicable regulations impacting design and permitting, standards of care for constructability of designs, and value engineering. The ideal candidate will be a dependable self-starter with excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills, as well as an ability to work independently on multiple projects at one time while mentoring and managing support staff and project engineers.

The successful candidate will report to the Director of Civil Engineering with this position designed under a hybrid model, with three (3) days in the Quincy, Massachusetts office at a minimum. The majority of clients this position will support will be located in the Boston market, so interested candidates must already be established in this area, but availability and flexibility for nationwide travel is a requirement as well.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Site investigation and due diligence including zoning reviews of municipal zoning and land development ordinances and applicable agency regulations to determine development feasibility and/or limitations for commercial projects
• Preparation of Site Development plans using Civil 3D software
• Design of stormwater management and stormwater conveyance systems. Skills should include use of hydrologic/hydraulic modeling design software; preparation of pipe sizing calculations, drainage area maps, and surface runoff coefficients; invert, slope, velocity & hydraulic grade line evaluation; and knowledge of the applicable stormwater regulations for the authority having jurisdiction
• Grading design and design of utility systems, soil erosion and sediment control design
• Project coordination including meetings and correspondence with client and project team
• Preparation of written correspondence to outside agencies, client, attorney, contractor, etc. Also includes preparation of technical reports including drainage, sanitary sewer and site investigation reports
• Attendance and testimony at hearings and municipal meetings
• Site visits and construction administration

Qualifications and Capabilities

• Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering
• 8+ years of professional work experience with PE registration in Massachusetts; multi-state licensure a plus
• Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook and Powerpoint
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Hydrocad required
• Knowledgeable and experienced in site layout, grading, utility design and stormwater management
• Good understanding of State and local permitting process
• Excellent communication skills
