Overview

We are seeking a Senior Clinical Informaticist with clinical, research and/or public health data modernization experience as a business leader in the Center for Informatics. Must be able to demonstrate leadership experience in interoperability to support research, clinical care delivery and/or public health surveillance needs. Should be able to demonstrate a proven track record of experience with clinical care delivery, leadership in technical or data innovation, and/or informatics. The Senior Clinical Informaticist is responsible for working across business units and programmatic areas of RTI International to identify and direct assets within the institute toward the coordinated improvement of data that is findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR) and/or data modernization initiatives for the federal government and other clients. A successful candidate will engage with scientific and executive leadership within and outside of the institute to support the growth of initiatives in RTI's research areas and source, lead, and support new opportunities.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a subject matter expert in the areas of informatics, data modernization, and/or information science.
  • Spurs innovation in designing and implementing care delivery, research and/or public health studies
  • Advises in the areas of data governance, data policy, data security, and/or data modernization within federal public health agencies, research organizations and state and local public health departments.
  • Participates and contributes to national data modernization efforts through authoring peer-reviewed publications, scientific presentations, and committee memberships.
  • Directs, supports, and advises on software, applications, and data governance.
  • Mentors staff in the areas of clinical informatics, advanced analytics, data modernization, and/or health services research.
  • Assumes responsibility for research projects, budgets, schedules, and quality by implementing standards and procedures to ensure adequate project management and review.
  • Develops strategies to ensure effective achievement of scientific objectives.
  • Engages with clients to ensure successful execution of existing projects, maintains good relations with RTI colleagues and supports development of proposals and future business.
  • Contributes across the organization in working with senior managers and proposal and project directors on broad strategic and operational issues.
  • Stays abreast of and leverages new methodologies to advance staff capacity and capabilities.
  • Leads, writes, and reviews proposals or portions of proposals.
  • Supports RTI in meeting annual objectives including growth metrics.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US.
  • Relevant clinical background (MD, RN, etc.) and at least 5 years of clinical practice experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree and 15 years of experience, Master's degree and 12 years of experience, PhD and 10 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in informatics, health services research or public health.
  • Solid understanding of medical informatics, electronic health records, healthcare terminology, and related standards
  • Demonstrated track record developing federal client portfolios.
  • Experience developing scientific data systems in a microservice architectures utilizing cloud infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of Federated/ distributed Data Ecosystems (FAIR Compliant)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate complex information to multiple audiences working in data modernization.
  • Ability to cultivate strong relationships and collaborate inclusively with a wide variety of individuals in a matrixed environment to accomplish project goals.
  • Must work effectively under deadlines, both independently and as a team member.

Preferred Experience:

  • Combined clinical and informatics background
  • Some combined exposure to clinical care delivery, interoperability and public health surveillance work
  • Prior experience with computer science/software development or related work
