The Shelby location is Clearwater Paper's newest consumer products facility, boasting two paper mills located on 400 acres with over 600 talented employees. We are proud to produce a variety of high-quality premium and ultra-premium bathroom tissue, household paper towels, and napkins for major retail outlets throughout the United States. Our state-of-the-art technology includes 10 converting lines, 54 laser-guided vehicles, and 2 paper machines producing large quantities at high speed. What you will do

  • Work closely with the Facilities group and other trades in support of HVAC planned and unplanned maintenance to increase the reliability of systems.
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspections of refrigeration units, isolated heating, and ventilating units, including boilers, gas and electrically operated air-conditioning equipment, and made necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Supervise, oversee, and coordinate regular and timely technical reviews of HVAC related Engineering deliverables developed by engineering consultants/contractors, ensuring design optimization in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Maintains records for uptime/downtime events and inventory of repair supplies and materials.
  • Work from complex blueprints, schematics, drawings, and written and verbal instructions to carry out work on heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment.
  • Requires plumbing of refrigeration system for pneumatic, chilled, and tower water branch ties.
  • Install and repair controls and systems by using various meters, gages, indicators, and leak detectors as well as the ability to balance air systems.
  • Work with a project team and assist in the design of HVAC systems.
  • Assist Project Engineer with reports, calculations, computer simulations, and design/layout of HVAC systems.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated experience and knowledge in performing a complete installation of HVAC equipment and troubleshooting and servicing old and new units.
  • Oversee the reliability of compressed air systems. Work with Maintenance and Engineering to provide training and support major repairs or replacement of systems.
  • Actively participate in safety briefings.

What you will need

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required).
  • Maintain an HVAC license in North Carolina (preferred).
  • Ability to communicate on a professional level with many internal and external customers.
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Able to wear and comply with all personal protective equipment (Eye and ear protection, steel-toed shoes,)
  • Able to work in a physically demanding environment including temperature extremes, loud noise, avoiding slipping, tripping, and falling hazards.
  • Work environment includes exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid.
