Overview

Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations serves as senior fundraising strategist and oversees all aspects of fund development and alumni relations. Provides strategic leadership and direction in planning, organizing, and directing Carolinas College development and fundraising efforts. Partners with donors, community partners, key influencers, alumni, and teammates to leverage partnerships to seek major gifts to achieve outcomes consistent with Carolinas College's strategic priorities. Guides the College's vision for strategic marketing.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Master's degree or CFRE designation preferred.
  • Minimum of three - five years' experience in professional fund development and advancement experience required.
  • Higher education fundraising experience strongly preferred.
  • A record of demonstrated excellence in leading projects and facilitating collaboration.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and very strong interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in managing volunteers, students and/or other professionals.
  • Proven success with event planning and coordination.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Responsible for the administration and coordination of a comprehensive fund development program.

  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards a portfolio of prospects and donors, including alumni, teammates, corporate and community partners in support of Carolinas College initiatives.
  • Develops communication and solicitation strategies involving multiple media, personal visits, and constituent engagement, all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support.
  • Plans and implements signature events that further alumni relations, annual giving goals, and ongoing support for the College's goals, Atrium Health foundation, and the healthcare system.
  • Implements best practices in gift processing, data management and donor relations.
  • Collaborates with other members of the college community and the Atrium Health Foundation to prepare publications, informational materials and other communications to advance fund development efforts.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive alumni engagement initiatives and communication strategies to strengthen relationships between the College and its alumni.
  • Develops an annual budget for development and alumni relations.
  • Contributes to the development and revision of policies and procedures.

Guides the College's vision for strategic marketing.

  • Supervises the development of marketing plans and strategies.
  • Oversees the creation of marketing and promotional materials as well as the College's social media presence.

Promotes the college's core values and standards of excellence through respectful communication, maintenance of a safe and professional environment, synergistic partnership with those we serve, and anticipation of students', colleagues' and customers' needs.

  • Serves as a role model and/or mentor to students and teammates.
  • Projects a professional image in dress, speech and behavior including demonstrating respect for others.
  • Represents the program and college in a positive manner.
  • Provides accessibility to alumni, constituents and teammates by maintaining office hours and communicating in a timely manner.
  • Participates in college functions (e.g., teammate/departmental meetings, new student orientation, graduation) as appropriate.
  • Engages in active college committee work.
  • Fosters beneficial relationships and supports the greater community through service activities.

Maintains professional competence, including system- and college-assigned requirements.

  • Possesses and continually develops position-specific knowledge and requirements.
  • On an ongoing basis, participates in appropriate continuing education, training offerings or other scholarly activities (e.g., certification training, formal education, membership in professional organizations, conference attendance, presentation or publications).
  • Annually evaluates own job performance and goal attainment.
  • Effectively and appropriately uses computer technology appropriate to position including communications, report writing, document preparation, and word processing.
  • Completes relevant training, as required (e.g., annual continuing education (ACE) modules, Title IX and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) training, mental health first aid training).
  • Complies with Atrium Health's clinical requirements (e.g., tuberculosis screening tests, annual influenza vaccination), as required.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate with Atrium Health community relations to synergize alumni community outreach efforts with those of .
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
