The role of the AV Technician is to install, repair, and/or maintain a variety of Audio Visual (AV) & Videoconferencing (VTC) equipment/systems with minimal supervision. The AV Technician's goal is to complete tasks with a high degree of quality and efficiency, while practicing professionalism for optimal job performance. In addition, The AV Technician will work with multiple aspects of the cable installation process including copper, pathway construction, rough-in, routing, Telecommunication Room build-out, cable terminations, labeling, and grounding.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • AV Technician will be responsible for, but not limited to the following: installation, configuration, integration and testing of VTC and AV equipment.
  • Cable management.
  • Integration, test, configuration, and troubleshooting of IP networks.
  • Install low voltage wiring and cable; solder and terminate connectors; wire equipment racks; and assemble equipment/devices using the appropriate supports/mounts.
  • Install multiple aspects of the cable installation projects including copper, pathway construction, rough-in, routing, Telecommunication Room build-out, cable terminations, labeling, and grounding.
  • Conduct customer site surveys and provide sales engineering assistance.
  • Perform specialized technical tasks in the operation, installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of complex AV equipment for company and customers.
  • Read and interpret AV system drawings, schematics, and construction plans and install AV equipment to meet requirements as detailed in installation plans.
  • Oversee all VTC system, Audio/visual, and Cable Television installations, scheduling and operations and maintenance.
  • Provide support for other A/V equipment associated with video conference room systems.
  • Direct user level maintenance support for voice, video and multi-media systems.
  • Maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot video equipment for executive users.
  • Provide support to test secure mobile services as needed.
  • Periodic inspection and testing of systems and conference rooms.
  • Provide AV troubleshooting support for facilities.
  • Travel: The individual in this role should be able and willing to travel as required by E2.
Education:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification. May obtain upon hire.
Experience:
  • 1-2 years of technical AV-related field experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret AV system drawings, schematics, and construction plans.
  • Cable Pulling, Rack Building, Signal Termination, System Calibration, System Testing and Final Commissioning.
  • Computer Literate/MS Office.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • COMMUNICATION SKILLS: This position requires handling confidential information in an appropriate manner. Customer interactions must be handled with diplomacy and tact.
  • DECISION MAKING/JUDGEMENT: The AV Technician may be on their own in solving problems and determining satisfactory solutions. Ability to work independently and in a team setting is imperative.
  • Familiarity with uploading code for AMX, Crestron and Extron control systems.
  • Other industry certifications a plus (Cisco, Biamp, Extron, Crestron or AMX).
  • CVE and VCA-DCV Certifications.
  • Crestron certification and Experience.
  • 8570 IAT II baseline certification at start date.
  • Must be able to learn and support new and quickly changing technologies.
  • Ability to research solutions or information regarding technical issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret AV system drawings, schematics, and construction plans.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual.
  • Excellent project, technical, interpersonal, presentation and problem management skills.
  • Ability to communicate orally, and in writing, detailed technical information on troubleshooting and implementation efforts.
  • Familiarization of NORAD/USNORTHCOM missions and DOD regulations and directives.
  • Proven knowledge of computer security principles and DoD security protocols.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good work habits under pressure.
  • Experience with related technologies such as security, VOIP, IT, and telecom.
  • Excellent customer service skills; must possess a "can do" attitude.
  • Ability to effectively work individually or in a team environment.
  • Competency in performing multiple functional tasks.
  • Assertive and resourceful; self-motivated; willing to ask questions and take initiative be able to communicate clearly.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and comfortable working in a fast paced environment managing multiple priorities.

  • Must have a good command of the English language in order to provide effective phone, desk-side, and email support.
  • Must be able to meet E2's driving standards policy.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The standard work environment for this position is an indoors business office and construction environment. Ability to use a computer and/or hand tools while sitting or standing for extended periods of time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, use hands, stoop, kneel, bend, rotate, push, pull, reach with hands and arms on intermittent to regular basis daily. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must regularly carry and climb ladders to 20 feet. The employee may be required to work in tight, confided spaces. The employee must demonstrate regular and on-time attendance. There could be a requirement of occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle and the like within the region and to other locations as required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
