Category Manager Position Overview:

The Category Managerwill provide daily management to category/commodities assigned and ensure proper development and execution of comprehensive category/commodity strategies that exceed both short term and long-term targets. Accountable for all commercial negotiations and supplier selections within commodities. Responsible for developing Category/commodity strategy and playbook. Responsible for management of strategic suppliers through formal Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process and accountable for monitoring supplier risk across all responsible commodities. Engage with Project and B&P teams to support Projects and new product development (NPD) initiatives.

Your Day to Day:

  • Align with regional and sector functional stakeholders to incorporate product and manufacturing strategies into category/commodity strategy while gaining leadership support
  • Lead category/commodity development and execute comprehensive category/commodity strategies that exceed both short term and long-term targets
  • Accountable for all commercial negotiations and supplier selections within commodities - exceed spend under long-term agreement and supplier rationalization targets
  • Partner with Regional and Sector Procurement teams to ensure delivery of productivity - lead countermeasures aligned to commodities and regions/sector
  • Responsible for management of strategic suppliers through formal Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process to improve supplier performance metrics including quality, delivery, productivity, and innovation
  • Partner with strategic suppliers and Supplier Performance Engineers to complete detailed capacity analysis - align plant project and forecasting requirements with suppliers to efficiently ensure continuity of supply
  • Engage with NPD/B&P Procurement teams to support new product development (NPD) and new technology introduction (NTI), through preferred supplier and SRM programs
  • Accountable for monitoring supplier risk across all responsible commodities while developing and maintaining detailed mitigation plans for critical components and at-risk suppliers
  • Accountable for reporting and managing of category/commodity inflation, both mitigation and recovery
  • Create and maintain category/commodity playbooks across assigned categories to present during Quarterly Category/commodity Reviews (QCR)

Who You Are:

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering or related field
    • Advanced degree preferred.
  • 5 - 8 years experience Supply Chain/Procurement
    • 5+ years experience in Category/commodity Management with large scale, complex, and/or regional/global categories of spend
  • Strong analytic experience with demonstrated success in assessing, negotiating and managing suppliers
  • Experience with large complex cross functional projects
  • Direct experience in the development and management of a global supply base is preferred
  • Professional communications; both verbal and written are required. Demonstrated ability to lead executive presentations for Senior Leadership required.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

  • Supply Chain Acumen - Oversees development and execution of GSC strategies/playbooks for assigned components or services, drives utilization of common GSC tools to achieve optimal Westinghouse results that are Quality, Delivery, Price and Service balanced and corporate/governmental compliant.
  • Project Management - Reviews and approves teams' project plans, oversees project execution, balances projects between short and long-term focus, secures alignment with cross-functional partners.
  • Global Business Thinking/Strategizing-Demonstrates deep global knowledge of suppliers, industry trends, emerging markets and technology, builds this knowledge into GSC strategies/playbooks, develops global talent.
  • Problem Solving-Identifies/anticipates potential problems, supports root cause analysis, evaluates robustness of corrective action plan and oversees plan implementation.
  • Relationship Management - Creates collaborative environment with cross-functional partners, assures regular/appropriate two-way communication flow, builds/maintains relationship with industry peers and suppliers, and reinforces GSC lead on "Westinghouse voice" to the supply base
