Who We Are Looking For:

The Transportation Planner is responsible for inbound, interplant and direct to customer shipments. The Transportation Planner will manage shipments from planning to completion, monitor cost, service and compliance for carriers. Assist the Transportation Manager as needed with special projects, analysis and metric reporting.

What you will do...

  • Working independently while supporting the team to achieve the goal of on time pickup and delivery; Consolidating loads; Problem resolution; Communication with carriers and sites; Daily reports

  • Analyze data to identify areas for cost and service improvement opportunities.

  • Masterful customer service skills supporting multiple customer accounts.

  • Proactively analyzes and implements best practices and process improvement opportunities.

  • Utilizes transportation software system to identify least cost routing and shipment consolidation to minimize cost.

  • Coordinates daily activity to track and monitor delivery status and movement of goods to customers, both external and internal.

  • Communicates with sites to optimize customer service and freight spend.

  • Works with shipping department to establish, maintain and facilitate dock adjustments.

  • Routes special customer orders as needed. (White glove and hot loads)

  • Acts as a first point of contact for brokers and carriers.

  • Works with DRP planners, sites and carriers to ensure internal transfers are shipping timely.

  • As necessary assist carrier with pickup and delivery appointment. Identify root cause and resolve issues preventing carrier from completing task on their own.

  • Coordinates any inbound loads with planners and manufacturing.

  • Daily reporting to the Senior planner of issues of sites and carriers.

  • Attends meetings as needed with sites, carriers and cross functionally.

  • May perform other duties as required.

What You Bring to the Table (must have):

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience.

  • A strong core competency in integrated planning approaches, critical thinking, task management, effective communication/storytelling (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Strong decision-making ability supporting data.

  • Ability to work effectively with multiple departments.

  • Strong analytical skills and able to adapt quickly to change.

  • Strong multi-tasker, comfortable moving quickly from task to task.

  • Ability to exercise discretion while managing confidential information.

  • Strong problem-solving skills using intuition and experience to complement data.

  • Proficient MS Office, Word processing software, Spreadsheet software, and Internet software.

Physical Demands

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

  • The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, and walk.

  • The employee must occasionally stoop or kneel.


Travel to assigned Facilities up to 10%.

Compensation and Benefits:

The base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between

$38,400.00 - $62,000.00

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
