Global Operations Manager

SUMMARY : The Operations Manager for the Europe, Middle East/India, and the America's region will have global GBU responsibility for managing the Transportation Planning & Event Management (TPEM) Logistics and Warehousing operations across two regions. This position will report to the Director of Service Delivery and will be based in Charlotte, NC (with teams located in Kings Mountain, NC and Budapest, Hungary). In this critical role, the Operations Leader will focus on the overall process of keeping customers satisfied with the company's products and deliveries. They will manage projects, drive improvements to reliability issues, track service metrics, manage budgets, escalate/resolve issues and lead the professionals responsible for getting products delivered to customers. They will bring technical and administrative skills to the role to help resolve technical problems, manage team performance, track finances, and control the quality of the Service Delivery operations.

Responsibilities include:

Operation Management:

  • Define, execute, and manage 3PL strategy around operational excellence, inventory optimization and targets, and network analysis for warehouse locations.
  • Manage $8 MUSD total warehouse spend in Europe, Americas, and Middle East/India.
  • Oversee effective and efficient management of transportation planning in the Transportation Management (TM) Module, managing an annual logistics spend of $19 MUSD.
  • Manage and set departmental budget and finances within AOP and departmental guidelines.
  • Develop new strategies to streamline processes and reduce costs.
  • Develop, update, and evaluate metrics to assess performance and implement enhancements.
  • Develop and Manage Allocation metrics around Global Steamship Line contracts, driving Specialties GBU compliance.
  • Ensure that quality, quantity, customer satisfaction, and financial commitments are met.

Process & Compliance Management:

  • Develop and enhance Global Key Performance metrics to improve the role of Logistics and Warehouse teams.
  • Liaise with Global Process Owners to create a culture of process standardization and adherence.
  • Accountable for ensuring full regulatory compliance and legal requirements, and identification of any potential risk issues.
  • Provide consultancy for projects, initiatives, or processes related to warehouse and logistics execution.
  • Help regional teams to identify and implement programs related to process improvement and innovation; Investigate problems, find root causes, and develop solutions.

Quality & Governance:

  • Monitor the status of quality systems and assess customer feedback to improve and refine services to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Apply and coach others on appropriate problem-solving techniques in correcting non-conforming processes by leading the root cause analysis, developing effective countermeasures, and applying statistical techniques in confirmation and verification.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and incorporate process improvement methodologies to achieve maximum operational efficiency.
  • Partner and collaborate with peers within Specialties and GPO to identify, develop and implement innovative and sustainable improvements (technology, equipment, policies, and procedures) that serves first class customer experience and support team efficiency and operational excellence.

People & Performance Management:

  • Efficiently use resources and change management tools to achieve seamless operations.
  • Define, develop, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and measure overall 3PL, Logistics Operations and Team Performance, providing periodic reports and status updates on the overall performance to senior management.
  • Work to increase employee capacity, support their professional development, review, and assess performance, and enable employees to optimize their contribution to the department.
  • Provide guidance, coaching and leadership to team members as it relates to Logistics and Intermodal Operations.

Education and Experience Required:

  • An undergraduate degree in supply chain management, operations, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in Supply Chain, Logistics or Warehousing Operations with a Comprehensive knowledge of transportation, freight, logistics industry.
  • Strong Leadership and change management experience.
  • Basic knowledge and competency in SAP.
  • Data gathering, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including business process metrics and measures linking to business KPIs.
  • Strong communication skills, with a proven ability to understand key concepts and communicate with business stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to perform in a command-and-control role under pressure and manage multiple priorities with competing demands.
  • Strong analytical, data-processing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in process formulation and improvement.
  • Proficiency in working in a fast-paced, complex, dynamic, multicultural business.

The following experience is preferred:

  • Direct experience in transportation management ( TM)software
  • Experience overseeing 3PL or 4PL operations.
