ESSENTIAL TASKS:

  • Set up and perform duties to operate Eddycurrent inspection equipment to inspect a variety of materials for surface flaws and defects.
  • Make specified checks to determine proper operations of Eddycurrent unit at beginning of each shift prior to equipment use.
  • Work from batches, mill instructions, technical instructions to perform operation in accordance with customer specifications and requirements.
  • Visually check and prepare material to be inspected as necessary.
  • Following technical instructions, set up Eddycurrent equipment and verify capabilities, back reflections and detect defect indications using appropriate test blocks and standards.
  • Segregate defective material.
  • Prepare disposition reports on defective material.
  • Maintain prescribed work and related records and reports.
  • Maintain setup standards in accordance with quality control requirements.
  • Direct, check and maintain all material identification procedures
  • Detect and report damaged equipment, improper operations, referring questionable matters to proper supervision.
  • Follow and implement all prescribed safety rules and regulations

NON-ESSENTIAL TASKS:

  • Maintain equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Report any equipment problems to Supervision.
  • At times load and unload equipment
  • Perform other duties as required or directed


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Employee must maintain certification in Eddycurrent inspection. Requalification is required every 5 years.
  • Failure to pass the examination on the third attempt will disqualify that person from Eddycurrent and will require assignment to another job if available and qualified.
  • General high school diploma or GED
  • Detect and report defective materials, improper operations and unusual conditions to supervision
  • Abide by the ethical standards and requirements established by the ethics code.
  • Employees must be familiar with the ATI Specialty Materials quality policy and this policy must be used as the guide in performing every aspect of the job
  • Must be able to use ordinary arithmetic, decimals and fractions
  • Make use of schedules, charts and tables.
  • Make simple use of specifications & maintain required records and reports
  • Use micrometers, rule and gauges.
  • Report improper operations and questionable matters to proper supervision
  • Abide by the ethical standards and requirements established by the ethics code
  • Over 1 year and up to 3 years manufacturing experience.
  • 1 year on the job training, examination per qc-20
