Role Overview:
The Applications Scientist is an important conduit between scientific knowledge and practical application, supporting sales and marketing activities. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated and hardworking individual, passionate about science with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Your responsibilities will encompass, but not limited to:

  1. Scientific Content Generation:
  • Collaborating with internal and external experts to develop methods and gather experimental data.
  • Crafting Scientific documentation (application notes, white papers, blogs) to support sales, marketing, and customer engagement.
  • Educating stakeholders on techniques, troubleshooting and product demonstrations.
  1. Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
  • Working closely with sales, marketing, customer service, and R&D teams.
  • Cross-functional collaborations to align workflows and strategies.
  1. Company representation and Market insights:
  • Showcase technical expertise by delivering engaging presentations, leading training sessions, and facilitating workshops for Biotage at Scientific meetings and tradeshows as well as our internal teams.
  • Collecting market-related information to inform product and application development.
  1. Training and Communication:
  • Frequent interaction with customers and collaborators to provide technical expertise and gather meaningful insights.
  • Sharing standard processes and insights gained from application development and research and providing actionable recommendations for the use of Biotage products in new markets and application areas.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Take the lead in executing laboratory projects, focusing on the development and optimization of methods.  Generate data to assess and showcase the suitability of Biotage products for customer workflows, ensuring alignment with marketing strategies.
  • Author scientific documents, including application notes, white papers, posters, blogs, operating procedures, and slide decks.  Ensure the content is clear, concise, and logically structured, adhering to Biotage guidelines.
  • Offer expert consultation, technical assistance, and training to customers, field sales reps, and internal stakeholders encompassing product knowledge, application guidance, operational advice and troubleshooting solutions as required, both in-person and virtually.
  • Accompany local sales representatives, or travel independently, to customer sites. Provide support for end-user education, product evaluations, and the implementation of Biotage solutions.
  • Represent Biotage at scientific conferences and tradeshows, delivering scientific presentations, and addressing technical questions. Gather market-related scientific information and compile reports to aid in the development of marketing strategies and application development.
  • Contribute to regional and corporate marketing efforts, as well as Innovation & Development initiatives as assigned. Assess potential products and provide insights for the development of new products.
  • Assist in overseeing collaborations with KOLs and crucial customer.
  • Support service team, inside sales representatives, and others as needed for during events and demos. This includes tasks such as locating and packing accessories and systems and other duties as required.
  • Recording of all business-related activities in Saleforce.com is required.
Skill Requirements/Education/Experience Required:

  • Superior skills in technical writing and oral presentation skills in English are essential. Proficiency in using PowerPoint, Word, and other software for organizing and presenting scientific content is required.
  • Excellent skills in record-keeping and documentation. Must demonstrate strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree or higher in analytical chemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, or a related field. A Ph.D. is highly preferred.
  •  2+ years’ hands-on experience with LC-MS (and/or GC-MS) operation, troubleshooting, and application method development for quantitative and qualitative analysis, with experience in both small and large molecules preferred.
  • Hands-on experience and practical knowledge of sample preparation for complex matrices such as biofluids, tissues, and food materials. Experience with laboratory automation is preferred.
  • Previous working experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or commercial analytical testing laboratory is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge and experience with management of technical project is preferred.
Travel Required:
  •  ~50% - visits to customer sites, other Biotage offices, and trade shows as required in the business.
