This position will support projects throughout Duke Energy Carolinas West Central Region and will report to different jobsites. This position's headquarters will be located in Charlotte, NC.
This position is responsible for providing the support necessary to ensure that Transmission Construction and Maintenance Projects & Programs, jobsites and associated company operations are in compliance with federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations, in addition to corporate environmental policies and procedures.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities
Works under general direction with minimal supervision
Serves as a subject matter expert and provides technical expertise and judgement to resolve basic environmental issues for the Transmission Organization
Assist in response and preparing reports to inquiries from regulators, property owners and customers concerning land disturbing activities associated with Transmission construction and maintenance projects
Conducts site Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspections and environmental audits for assigned projects and assist Transmission Crews, Contract Crews and R&PM Oversight personnel in doing the same
Assist Transmission Siting & Permitting with field input in preparing permit applications for new projects
Maintains current knowledge on associated environmental laws and regulations and a working knowledge on the scientific and technical aspects of regulatory requirements and how they may impact Transmission projects, maintenance and operations.
Provides support necessary to ensure that Transmission projects, jobsites and associated company operations are in compliance with federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations in addition to corporate environmental policies and procedures. This support includes identifying and assisting in the resolution of company, customer and property owner issues associated with Transmission project and maintenance work including but not limited to working with regulators, grading and site restoration contractors, local Government agencies and various Duke Energy organization, e.g. Project Management, Work Management, Engineering, Land Agents, Asset Protection, etc....
Tracks, monitors and reports on all open environmental and construction permits assigned to Transmission.
Provides regulatory requiredand internal environmental reports, project reports, event reports and associated correspondence as necessary.
Supports the accomplishment of work unit goals and enhances company reputation through effective planning, organizing, communicating and scheduling of environmental work activities.
Develops positive working relationships, both internal and external to Duke Energy to effectively coordinate work activities
Supports the departments routine and special projects in order to accomplish business objectives
Strive to continually develop and improve job-related technical knowledge and skills to ensure department expectations are met. Maintains training and certification(s) necessary to monitor, inspect and maintain SWPPP plan in the assigned region
Basic Qualifications
Either 6+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 8+ years of experience And Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent) or 12+ years equivalent experience without in lieu of a degree
Certified, or ability to obtain certification within one year of hire date, as a Stormwater, Erosion and Sedimentation Control inspector or equivalent for each of the states within the assigned region
Valid Driver's License
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of environmental regulatory compliance requirements involving stormwater, erosion and sediment control
Knowledge of general grading and site construction practices, landscaping and associated BMPs
Knowledge of general Transmission Construction and Maintenance work practices
Effective communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills with a customer-oriented focus
