The primary role of the Sales Engineer is to fully support the Industrial Lifting & Material Handling team in all activities from technical & program management perspective.

Role: Territory Sales Engineer

Location: Remote/hybrid - work site Southern Pines, NC Assembly Plant

Job Summary:

The primary role of the Sales Engineer is to fully support the Industrial Lifting & Material Handling team in all activities from technical & program management perspective.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and coordinates with Sales Department and the customers to ensure that requests for quotes are understood and include the required information.
  • Lead design efforts for customer projects and partners with others across the organization to solve problems and deliver timely results.
  • Produce and analyze complete CAD design layouts, models, drawings, and bills of material (BOMs) with minimal supervision.
  • Coordinates, schedules, conducts, and documents project initiation meetings to ensure customer specifications and quotations are clear between departments and the customer.
  • Provide technical support on issues related to product selection, application, specification, installation, dimensional allowances, characteristics, best practices, etc.
  • Coordinates and assists sales with customer plant visits when needed.
  • Detailed knowledge of architecture of product and subsystems to ensure durability, manufacture sustainability and product design for end-users.
  • Build and maintain solid trustworthy relationships with customers & team members within Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing and Sales. Train others on critical aspects of design and end-user product experience.
  • Perform design analysis and calculations (such as weight and center of gravity) with accuracy. Follow good engineering practices and develop practical solutions.
  • Stay current on drafting and GD&T standards and CAD design technology.
  • Adhere to all company safety and security policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • CAD proficiency. Must be able to perform solid modeling and drafting with Creo and Unigraphics NX as well as 2D AutoCAD and demonstrate ability.
  • Minimum 5 years design experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of structural steel components and welding practices
  • Must be proficient in three-dimensional layout.
  • High mechanical aptitude
  • Industrial controls knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills across all platforms (email, phone, text)
  • Familiarity with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical schematics desirable.
  • Strong project management skills including demonstrated expertise in organizing tasks and managing time to complete simultaneous multiple assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to make timely design decisions, applying creativity and sound judgment.
  • In depth understanding of product function fundamentals at both component and system levels.
  • Knowledge of tolerance stack-ups, part inspection procedures, and regulation standards.
  • Ability to organize tasks and manage time to complete simultaneous multiple assignments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
