Function: Develops and implements a regional health equity plan, targeted to a specific minority community, based on association goals and applicable affiliate demographics including strategies for eliminating health disparities, improving cultural competency and implementing targeted minority initiatives. In coordination with Development staff, develop sponsorship opportunities and cultivates strategic partnerships for Power To End Stroke. Support sponsorship acquisition and retention efforts for various events with Development staff. Drives mission outreach and development goals in support of Power To End Stroke and other Causes. Directs the integration of health equity strategies within the region with a focus on advocacy, health care quality, development, and marketing/communications opportunities to achieve the association's health impact goals. Positions the association as a trusted partner to community and business leaders for strategic outreach to targeted minority communities. Serves as internal consultant to the region/territory on all diversity-related initiatives. Works to increase diversity of volunteer board and committees in key markets within territory.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent. Minimum of three (3) years experience in minority public health education and community programs related to health disparities.

2. Demonstrated three (3) years experience leading community health issues, ability to direct across multiple accultuaration levels and socio-economic groups.

3. Demonstrated three (3) years expertise in health equity platform including cultural competency, health disparities, and target minority health outreach.

4. Demonstrated and proven knowledge of advocacy initiatives, community engagement strategies, healthcare quality initiatives, development, and volunteer management.

5. Three (3) years experience in marketing and development outreach to specific communities based on specific role: African Americans.

6. Demonstrated relationship management expertise.

7. Demonstrated ability to productively participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment working towards common goals with internal and external clients. Demonstrated ability to manage large projects ensuring deadline compliance.

8. Demonstrated ability to lead a multi-disciplinary team environment working towards common goals with internal and external clients. Proven relationship management expertise.

9. Demonstrated solid strategic thinking skills. The ability to problem solve and identify possible consequences of ideas, thoughts and actions on a multi-state execution. Ability to develop and execute a strategic plan in a collaborative business environment based on on-going assessment of current and future community health landscape.

10. Two (2) years experience in volunteer management including developing strategies for recruiting, mobilizing, managing, recognizing and evaluating volunteers. Demonstrated strategic management of volunteers to drive health impact and development goals. Ability to travel and accommodate volunteer scheduling needs beyond regular hours.

11. Demonstrated effective collaboration skills to internal and external partners including sponsors, state and local health agencies, community and state leaders, and minority organizations.

12. Demonstrated skills in written and oral communications at all organizational levels.

13. Proven ability to function independently without close supervision.

14. Familiar with general business principles and practices.

15. Competency in using Microsoft Office suite and AHA databases and technology tools (e.g. computer, fax, phone).

16. Able to transport materials/supplies for meetings.

17. Valid driver's license, proof of at least minimum state required automobile liability insurance and ability and willingness to travel as position demands.

18. Satisfactory background checks including consumer credit, motor vehicle, and criminal history.
